Cosmos
Cosmea, Cosmos bipinnatus or simply cosmos, is one of the easiest annual flowers to grow. Its fine foliage and blooms in soft pastels or vibrant shades give any garden a playful, natural appearance. It blooms from summer through autumn and is ideal for borders, cutting gardens and bouquets. Sow cosmos seeds in spring directly in the garden or in pots in a sunny spot and enjoy their beautiful display for months.

Cosmos bipinnatus
The cosmos plant belongs to the Asteraceae family. Originally from Mexico, it loves full sun. The cosmos flower is available in various types and colors. In our selection, you'll find three shades of these cosmos seeds: pink, red and white. Choose the color that suits you or mix and match them.
Cosmos flowers are also perfect as cut flowers
Every cosmos flower can be used as a cut flower, meaning you can snip them and place them in a vase. Some cosmos varieties are also suitable as dried flowers, attract bees and butterflies, and even have a lovely scent.
The cosmos plant: super easy to grow
Cosmos seeds are very easy to grow because they thrive in a wide range of conditions. All our cosmos seeds are annuals, which means they will bloom in the same year they are sown.
When does the cosmos flower bloom?
Cosmos begin blooming from early summer through fall. The ideal time to sow the seeds is around May, when the risk of frost has passed. You can start indoors in pots as early as March or April. If you plant them around May, they will flower from June through September. It takes about 7 weeks before they bloom, but they’ll continue until the first autumn frost. Cosmos flowers are not frost-tolerant and cannot survive cold weather.
Caring for cosmos bipinnatus
Cosmos flowers can have single or double blooms. As they grow taller, they may need support to prevent wind damage. You can pinch back the flowers to prolong blooming. By removing spent blooms, new buds will appear faster. Cosmos plants need regular watering, but do not overwater them. Too much water can result in fewer blooms. Slightly dry soil is not a problem for the cosmos.
Flower combinations
Cosmos flowers pair beautifully with other flower seeds. You can combine pink and orange flowers for a soft, warm contrast or purple and white for a more striking mix. Cosmos also look wonderful with dahlias, turning your garden into a true showstopper.
