With their tall, graceful stems and striking colours, they are a true feast for the eyes.

Gladiolus Bulbs

The gladiolus has beautiful tall stems and impressive flowers. In Latin, gladiolus means ‘sword’, referring to its sword-shaped leaves. Every gladiolus is slightly different. Flamenco gladioli grow 100–130 cm tall and have frilled flowers. Gladdies grow 60–90 cm tall and are therefore more resistant to strong winds. In addition to different types, there are also many colours. From red and pink to yellow and purple, our collection offers a wide range of shades. This also makes it fun to combine different gladiolus bulbs together.

Are gladioli bulbs or tubers?

Gladioli grow from tubers or also called corms  – they are not officially bulbs. A bulb (like a tulip) is made up of layers, similar to an onion. A tuber (like gladioli) is solid and packed with energy to help the plant grow. In the gardening world, we call all of these "flower bulbs" because it’s an easy and familiar term. The word “tuber” can also cause confusion, especially with dahlia tubers – so we like to keep it simple.
