Tips
Planting:
Plant gladiolus bulbs from mid-March until June 21st at the latest (the longest day). This ensures blooming in September/October.
Expect about 2.5 to 3 months from planting to flowering. By planting new bulbs every two weeks, you can enjoy blooming gladiolus from July through October.
Space the bulbs about 10–15 cm apart and plant them around 10 cm deep. They also grow well in clay soil.
Note: gladiolus are not suitable for pots.
Tips:
- Choose a sunny, sheltered spot and keep the soil moist.
- Gladiolus are perfect as cut flowers. Cut them when the first lower blooms begin to open, for long-lasting enjoyment in a vase.
- Tall stems can be sensitive to wind – support them with bamboo stakes or netting.
- Combine with lower-growing flowers like dahlias, phlox, or calendula for variation in height and colour.
- After flowering, you can lift the bulbs, dry them, and store them for next year.
- Our large-sized bulbs guarantee strong stems – often with multiple flowering stalks per bulb!
