You can clearly see that this charming flower is related to the daisy; in the Netherlands, it is also called "Ganzenbloem" (Goose Flower/Crown Daisy).

This is truly instant happiness! Chrysanthemum Cockade produces delicate white flowers with a dark centre surrounded by a coloured ring. Insects are naturally drawn to these flower centres.

    Tips

Chrysanthemum carinatum 'Cockade' can be sown indoors from March or directly in the open ground from May, once the risk of frost has passed. Cover the seeds lightly with a thin layer of soil or vermiculite. Keep the temperature between 15–20°C; germination usually takes 14–21 days. After germination and hardening off, plant the seedlings in a sunny spot with well-drained soil. Space the plants 25–30 cm apart to allow room for growth.

How many seeds do you need per square meter?

Each packet contains enough seeds for approximately 1 square meter of flowers. This can vary by variety, so consider the mature plant size. A helpful tip: don’t sow everything at once. Stagger sowing to extend the blooming season and have a backup in case the first sowing is less successful. One seed can grow into a full plant, so give them enough space. Store your seeds in a cool, dry place – they will remain viable for 2 to 3 years.

How much sun do annual flowers need?

Annuals bloom best in full sun, with at least 6 hours of sunlight per day. But the more sun – ideally more than 8 hours – the faster and more abundantly they’ll bloom. In shady areas, flowering may be limited.

    Planting instructions:

    • Moisten the soil so the seeds adhere well.
    • Cover the seeds with a thin layer of soil – see the planting depth per variety on the back of the packet or on this page.
    • Use fertile, well-drained soil.
    • Give the seeds a sunny spot and protect them from strong wind. Support the plants if needed.
    • Water regularly and remove weeds.
