The Bollenstreek, also known as the Dune and Bulb Region, is a coastal area in Holland known as the cradle of flower bulb cultivation. This region stretches from Leiden to Haarlem and includes villages such as Lisse, Hillegom and Noordwijk. Thanks to its sandy soil, the area is ideal for growing tulips, crocuses, narcissus and hyacinths. In spring, the Bollenstreek attracts many visitors with its colourful blooming landscape, followed by a second blooming season in late summer with flowers such as dahlias and gladiolus.
