Probably more than you think...
From just one dahlia tuber, also called a dahlia bulb, a large plant will grow that can produce dozens of flowers. The more flowers you cut from the plant, the more new buds it will form, which means even more blooms to enjoy.
Dahlias bloom from around June or July and continue flowering through October. In some years, they keep blooming into November until the first frost arrives. If you plant about five tubers
in one square metre of soil, you can sometimes harvest
over one hundred flowers from that single space.
One dahlia tuber can grow into a full plant that gives you a colourful bouquet of blooms. In the photo above, you can see the variety Zippity Do Da.
That entire plant grew from just one tuber.
