In our webshop you’ll find four different types of narcissus: single, double, multi-flowering and split-corona varieties. Each has its own charm and adds something special to your spring garden. In this blog we’ll explain the differences, so you can choose what fits your style and garden best. We also offer different stem lengths – short, medium and tall – which you can easily filter in our webshop. Some varieties are wonderfully fragrant or perfect for cutting and arranging indoors. You can filter for these too and create your own perfect mix.
Single-flowered narcissus
Single narcissus are a favourite among bees and butterflies. Their open heart gives easy access to nectar and pollen. These varieties have just one circle of petals, often shaped like a trumpet.
One of our favourites is Donaupark, a striking white bloom with a star-shaped orange centre. Another lovely one is Sorbet, which not only looks great in the garden, but also stands beautifully in a vase indoors.
Double narcissus
If you love full, lush flowers, then double narcissus are made for you. These blooms have many more petals than single varieties, creating a rich, festive look.
They’re just as easy to care for. Simply plant them in a sunny spot and keep the soil slightly moist.
A favourite in our field is Acropolis, a white narcissus with soft orange petals in the centre. This one really makes your garden stand out in spring.
Multi-flowering narcissus
Multi-flowering narcissus grow several blooms from a single stem – sometimes even four or five. They add a joyful and abundant feel to your garden and are perfect for cutting.
Because you get so many blooms on one stem, you only need a few for a full bouquet. A narrower vase works best here.
Martinette is one of our favourites – a bright yellow flower with an orange heart and a lovely fragrance. Other cheerful varieties include Bridal Crown, Curlew and Rip van Winkle.
Papillon narcissus
Papillon narcissus are elegant and refined, with soft, butterfly-shaped petals. They’re often white with a gently coloured trumpet, giving them a graceful and delicate look. A beautiful choice for a soft and stylish spring garden.
Split-corona narcissus
These narcissus have a split trumpet, often with frilled or ruffled edges. This gives the flower a unique and open shape that’s full of character.
Parisienne is a great example, with white petals and an open orange centre. It looks just as beautiful in the garden as in a spring bouquet.
