Tips
Characteristics of Anemones:
- Abundant and long-lasting blooms in a wide range of beautiful colors
- Excellent cut flowers with a vase life of around 7–10 days
- Grow well in the garden, in pots, or in a cool greenhouse
- Not fully winter hardy, but can tolerate light frost down to -5 °C
- Corms can be saved and replanted after flowering, providing joy for multiple seasons
Planting Instructions:
Anemones benefit from a cool start to develop strong roots and ensure optimal flowering. They grow best when soil temperatures are between 5–10 °C during the early growth phase. Light frost (down to -5 °C) is generally not a problem, but protect the plants with fleece or mulch during harsher conditions.
Autumn Planting (for early spring flowering):
- When? Late September to November
- Where? In a cool greenhouse or outdoors in mild climates
- Important: Keep soil temperature below 15 °C during root development
Spring Planting (for summer flowering):
- When? February to April
- Where? Start in a cool greenhouse and move outdoors once the danger of frost has passed, or plant directly outside if frost is no longer expected
- Important: Begin at 5–10 °C, and avoid temperatures above 20 °C once the plants start emerging
