Planting the scented narcissi

For the scented narcissi to bloom, they need cold weather. It is therefore important to plant the narcissus in autumn. However, narcissi do not tolerate severe frost, so the bulbs should not be planted after mid-December. You will receive large-sized bulbs from us so that you can expect full narcissi. Scented narcissi flower in spring, enjoy the scent of spring!

The wild narcissi (daffodils) are found in meadows. You can therefore perfectly scatter daffodil bulbs around the garden for a natural effect, or plant large groups in beds or pots. Scented daffodil bulbs do not like wet feet, so make sure the soil is well-drained. Loosen the soil a little and plant the narcissus bulbs with the point facing upwards, add soil on top, press down a little and you're done. All the nutrients are already contained in the narcissus bulb, so you can't really go wrong. Of course, we include detailed planting instructions with our bulbs, so you can look forward to the blooming of our wonderfully fragrant narcissi without any worries.

Care of scented narcissi

The scented narcissi from our webshop require little care. Just water them regularly during dry periods. The scented narcissus is a perennial bulbous plant, so you can enjoy its wonderful fragrance again next year. It is therefore very important that the narcissus bulbs receive the right care after the flowering period. When the narcissi has finished flowering, cut off the flower stalks and leave the leaves. It is important that the foliage of the narcissus bulb is given time to yellow. This is best for the narcissus (daffodil) bulb.

This allows the bulb to draw enough nutrients from the leaves for the next year. When the foliage is completely yellow, you can cut it off. In winter you can simply leave the narcissus bulbs in the ground and cover them with some foliage from the garden if necessary. Most narcissus bulbs produce several flowers that give off a lovely fragrance. This is real pleasure!

Optimal enjoyment of scented narcissi

Of course, you already get a lot of pleasure from the scent of scented narcissi (daffodils), but there is more that you can enjoy. For example, you can plant several types of daffodils in your garden. Create a stunning colour and fragrance combination by choosing, for example, the yellow daffodil Martinette and the white daffodil Curlew. Or choose one of the most popular double daffodils, the Bridal Crown daffodil.

Many of the scented narcissi (daffodils) in our range have an open "trumpet". Daffodils with an open trumpet, where you can easily see the stamens, are a food source for wild bees in early spring. They are also attracted to (harmless) ichneumon wasps and flies. This is good because these insects later destroy pests like the caterpillars of the oak processionary moth because they feed them (in pieces) to their larvae. In this way, you can also create a butterfly and bee garden with your scented narcissi. So, attract them!
